Inferno was new to Gaia Ranch. He, his trainer, and the rest of the team had arrived just the night before, so the Infernape hadn't any real time to explore the place.
He woke up extra early so he could get a head start on the day. Inferno tip-toed out of Tyson's barn and cautiously walked through the ranch's clearing. He hoped that no one would see him around because he wasn't sure if he was supposed to be out here doing this kind of thing.
Inferno found himself in the middle of the berry plots. He licked his lips as soon as his nostrils were filled with the juicy smells of oran berries, sitrus berries, and many more.
Would anyone notice if he took one? Maybe two? Nah...hopefully not, anyway.

"What are you doing?"
Verdi the Vileplume was awake and alert this early morning. She did her best to be up with the sun, enjoying the few moments of solitude that the sunrise granted her (that, and the sun rays felt amazing on her wide petals). Being the winter, the sun was fairly weak against the cold winds and icy snow dustings, but Verdi would take what she could get.
Then some random Fire-type Pokemon appeared and was looking a bit too interested in the berry plots. The berry plots were right next to Bryar's barn, and Verdi was sure that she and her new teammates were supposed to guard over them.
"Are you here to steal berries?" A sprinkle of purple spores began to leak out of Verdi's petals. "Do I need to throw some of my Poisonpowder at you?"

Inferno paused with his mouth gaped open tongue hanging out. His eyes shifted to the right when he heard a strange voice. He gathered his composure, shoved his tongue back into his mouth, and smiled with friendly eyes at the Vileplume.
"Um, no? I was just exploring around, that's all." he shrugged his shoulders. "You see, I'm new here. I just arrived with my caretaker Tyson and the rest of his team. I was a bit hungry and didn't realize these berries belonged to someone.
"My name is Inferno." he introduced himself with a slight bow. He kept his cool while eyeing the purple spores hovering about.

"Hmmm..."
Verdi's petals stopped producing the purple spores, the Vileplume pausing on her Poisonpowder as she mulled over the Fire-type's words. She scrutinized the Infernape and crossed her arms.
"I'm not sure I believe you," Verdi said. "Why would a Fire-type want to hang around the greenhouse and berries if not to burn it down? If you were really hungry, couldn't you find something to eat in your barn?"

Inferno rolled his eyes with an annoyed sigh. Did he really have to go through this right now?
"Didn't I just tell you that I'm new here? No one told me we had food in the barn, I've only just spent my first night in there." the Infernape Pokemon shrugged his shoulders. "And why in the world would I want to burn down the greenhouse and the berries?!"

"You could be lying!" Verdi said. "It's totally possible, you know."
She blinked. "Why wouldn't your trainer tell you guys that he put food down? Did he put food down? He must feed you. I'm sure that's against the rules around here or something..."
He asked her why he would want to burn down the greenhouse, and Verdi shrugged. "You're a Fire-type. Don't you like to burn things?"

Inferno stared blankly at the Vileplume with his mouth opening when she thought of the possibility of him lying. "You are kidding, right? Please tell me you're kidding!
"And my trainer doesn't know up from down." Inferno flailed his arms every which way. "Yet, it is a total possibility that he put food down and I just didn't notice because I don't have a very good attention span. And, by the way, burning things down is cool and fun, but why would I burn down my own home?"
He shook his head in disgust. He couldn't believe he was actually having this conversation.

Verdi's foot tapped impatiently as she stared up at the Infernape. "I do not kid about the safety of my home," she said with a huff.
"So, both you and your trainer don't have very good brains, by the sounds of it." The Vileplume rolled her eyes at the descriptions that Inferno gave her about Tyson and his own attention span. "Fine, fine... I guess you wouldn't be smart enough to burn this place down... You have to admit, though, it's a bit odd for a Fire-type to be so interested in such a grassy area. I thought your kind liked the Look-Out point area."

Inferno sighed, but didn't want to say anything. He clearly angered the Vileplume, he didn't want to make matters worse for himself.
"Excuse me, but I have excellent brains." the Infernape stiffened defending himself. "I can't say the same thing about my trainer, even though you shouldn't be talking about him like that.
"And I'm exploring the ranch. I don't know where I'm going and I don't know where I am right now. What in the world is the Look-Out Point?" he scratched the top of his head. This was all beginning to be too much for him to comprehend.

"You're the one who said you had no attention span, not me," Verdi said with a haughty sniff. She blinked at the blatant way the Fire-type was speaking of his trainer, and she was curious as to how the trainer got hired at the ranch in the first place. If his own Pokemon claimed that the trainer had no brains, then just how had this Tyson survived up until now?
"You're in the Greenhouse with the Berry Plots," Verdi said deadpanned. More casually, she said, "Look-Out Point is a rockier terrain. I've seen many Fire, Fighting, Ground types around there. It's at the edge of the ranch. I haven't gone too far toward there."
