Angel is reserved and cautious to a fault. He doesn't have the same definition of morals and good manners as the rest of the world—to him, kindness is not being scolded or reprimanded, and stealing from others is acceptable. In his opinion, humans must be respected and feared, and he will put their desires before his own. He sizes up other Pokémon in a behavioral sense, and his treatment of them depends on if he thinks they're more aggressive than he is. Angel does not like to fight needlessly and will usually try to run from confrontations first. He'll slink on all fours, preparing to bolt, when he feels especially nervous. He has lapses of amnesia every so often.
Mai is his alter personality; she typically emerges when he is under great stress but can know what's happening when she is not in control. Although careful like Angel, she's more adventurous and will do things he normally wouldn't. She isn't afraid to fight and won't hesitate to defend herself if need be, physically or verbally. Distrustful of women, she'll hiss and bristle at one if Mai perceives her as a threat, especially brown-haired women. She is the keeper of most of Angel's traumatic memories and assigns no emotions to them. Her tone of voice is slightly higher than Angel's, and she keeps their tails curled.
They do not use telepathy to communicate with humans.
Brief History: When he was very young, a Pokemon poacher killed his parents and caged him and his littermates. The hunter took them out of Kalos and sold them in other regions, keeping Angel for herself. He was named so because he was the shyest of the hunter's Pokemon (and because she thought he was a female before he evolved). Early on, after being starved following a second escape attempt, he began to dissociate with his situation, pretending he was a fierce, tough Pokémon. Another part of his identity formed separately.
Angel was forced into helping the woman, alongside her other Pokemon, to commit acts of thievery and destruction in different regions of the world, mostly Unova and Kalos. Growing used to the life, he saw stealing the goods of others and being on the run as normal. He was never given the opportunity to befriend other Pokemon outside of his teammates, whom he saw as coworkers instead of family. They did, however, point out his sudden behavioral changes, which led to him to recognize and name Mai as a separate identity. Oftentimes, Mai would emerge to take the brunt of harsh punishments to save Angel from the trauma and attempt to retaliate against their trainer.
During his fourth year—he is an "older teen" in Meowstic age—the hunter was taken into Sinnoh police custody and charged for robberies and Pokemon abuse during her time in Sinnoh. She had all her Pokemon taken from her, and the authorities attempted to re-home them in different places. Angel was the easiest to re-home due to his quiet tendencies.
I hope you don't mind his condition; I have done research and decided to try to experiment playing a character with D.I.D. If this is a problem, please let me know.
